Barrett Foster

Entrepreneur with a background in wealth management, management consulting, and finance whose areas of expertise include operational efficiency, product profitability, customer segmentation, and corporate strategy.

Barrett’s exposure to business began early in his life as he grew up in an entrepreneurial family and worked for an independent wealth management firm that his mother founded in 1988 and still operates today. Later in his career he served as a board member and was instrumental in developing corporate strategy, performance benchmarking, and conducting due diligence and deal structuring for a strategic acquisition. In addition, Barrett spent 7 years in management consulting and wealth management, most recently working for RMB Capital Management, an independent RIA based in Chicago with $4B in assets under management. His experience in small, medium, and Fortune 500 companies enables him to lead a business in a variety of environments and address both operational challenges and strategic issues.

Barrett received his BA from Pomona College and his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Barrett has served as an advisor to his family’s small business where he helped to develop corporate strategy, create performance reporting and benchmarking, and performed due-diligence and deal structuring for an acquisition. Barrett’s experience in small, medium and Fortune 500 companies such as Wells Fargo and Northwestern Mutual enables him to effectively manage in a wide range of environments.

Barrett holds a B.A. from Pomona College in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics, and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, focusing on Entrepreneurship, Management Strategy, and Marketing.

Coley Andrews

Coley Andrews is a founding partner of Pacific Lake Partners, a firm exclusively focused on small cap buyouts through the search fund model. Search fund investing consists of providing search and acquisition capital to promising entrepreneurs who are recent graduates of top MBA programs. Since co-founding Pacific Lake, Mr. Andrews has invested in over 25 search funds. He is currently a director of Out of Home America and Data Fusion Technologies as well as a board visitor at: Vector Disease Control, Alphacredit, Yoforia, Yates & Associates, Arizona College and Raptor Technologies. Mr. Andrews holds an MBA from Stanford's Graduate School of Business and a BA from Dartmouth College. He and his wife, Alisa, along with their three children live outside of Washington, DC.

Scott Asen

Scott graduated from Harvard College in 1966. He spent many years in the venture capital industry, successfully managing a family of funds for a wealthy New York investor. He is currently investing solely for his personal account, managing a portfolio of public and private equity investments. He sits on several corporate boards as well as several not-for-profit boards.

Tomas Bergstrand

Tomas Bergstrand is the founder of Archipelago Ventures, LLC a Boston-based private investment firm established in 2008. Archipelago Ventures serve as a vehicle for diversifying assets into privately held investments. Since its founding, Archipelago has made investments in search funds, search fund acquisitions and in select startup ventures in the United States and in Europe.

Prior to Archipelago Ventures, Tomas owned and managed a custom boat building business based in Massachusetts. He also served as chief financial officer at institutional brokerage Enskilda Securities, Inc in New York City and held operational positions for the Swedish banking group SEB in Singapore and the United States. Tomas holds a Master’s degree in Finance from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University and a Bachelor’s degree from Bryant University in Rhode Island.

Anders Brag

Anders Brag is currently president of GARB Holdings LLC, which takes positions in value oriented investments and in technology growth companies. He is an investor/director of several international companies located in the U.S., Europe, and China. Mr. Brag previously served as general partner of Hambro International Venture Fund, the U.S. affiliate of London-based Hambros Bank PLC, from 1979 to 1990, and subsequently as special limited partner until 1997. The partnership investments were diversified between early stage venture capital financings and leverage buyouts of more mature companies. Mr. Brag is a charter board member of the Leadership Enterprise for a Diverse America (LEDA), which provides a summer scholar leadership program. He is a director/member of the American Scandinavian Foundation, the Watson Institute, and the Brookings Institution Council. Mr. Brag, a Swedish citizen, holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the Institut Europen de Cooperation et d’Economie in Paris (1975) and a Masters in Business Administration from the Harvard University Graduate School of Business (1979).

Craig Burr

Mr. Burr's career has been devoted almost exclusively to venture capital and private equity activities, having founded Burr, Egan, Deleage & Co. in 1979. Previously, Mr. Burr was a Partner at TA Associates. In addition, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the New England Venture Capital Association and currently serves on the Board of Directors of several private companies. Mr. Burr received his Bachelor’s Degree, cum laude, from Harvard College and his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Matt Burr

Matthew Burr is a general partner at Matland Capital, where he is responsible for a hedge fund portfolio and is also active in making private investments. He previously worked at Cambridge Associates, where he was a hedge fund analyst and also assisted universities, foundations, and high net worth families with asset allocation, investment manager selection, and market research. Matthew Burr received his BA, cum laude, from Harvard University, and has a master's degree from Duke University in Environmental Management.

Bill Egan

Mr. Egan is a founder and Managing Partner at Marion Equity Partners. Bill is also a founder and General Partner of Alta Communications. He founded Alta's predecessor firm, Burr, Egan, Deleage & Co., in 1979, and has identified and backed several of America's leading growth companies in the information technology, life sciences, and communications industries. Prior to founding Burr, Egan, Deleage & Co., Bill was a Partner at TA Associates. Bill began his career as a Manager of Venture Capital for New England Enterprise Capital Corporation. He is past President and Chairman of the National Venture Capital Association, a Trustee of the University of Pennsylvania, a Trustee of Fairfield University and an Overseer of The Wharton School. Bill serves on the Boards of Directors of CRH plc, and several other privately held companies. Bill received a degree in Economics from Fairfield University and an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Tim Ludwig

Tim is a private investor with a focus on search funds and lower-middle market service businesses. Previously, Tim worked for Pacific Scene, a privately-held, diversified real estate company where he served on the board and was President of the Commercial Property division. Tim's prior experience includes roles in consulting with Arthur Andersen and a middle-market manufacturing company, being founder of two online publishing companies, and positions in business development with Dell Computer and a venture-backed start-up. Tim graduated from The College of Wooster and a received his MBA from the Ross School at the University of Michigan. Tim actively advises and serves on the board of several private companies.

Sandro Mina

Co-founding Managing Director of Relay Investments and is based in the Boston office. In early 1993, Sandro, along with Gunnar Bjorklund, Martin Steber and Nick Babchuck, co-founded Sverica International, where Sandro spent 20 years as a co-founding Partner. He currently serves on several company boards including Ackerman Security Systems, Creative Catalog Concepts, iCoat Company and Oasis. Mr. Mina also serves on the board of the Swedish School of Boston. During Sverica’s early days, Sandro served as President and CEO of Cameraworld.com, one of Sverica’s pre-fund portfolio companies. In earlier careers, Mr. Mina worked in the public and private sectors in a number of industries, including technology (United Nations Computing Centre and Storage Technology), banking (Citibank, Goldman Sachs & Co. and VISA) and telecommunications (consultant for a large European company).

Mr. Mina earned his BSc degree in Computer Engineering from Imperial College at the University of London and his MBA degree at the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University.

Ted McCarthy

Ted McCarthy was an owner/operator of private companies for more than thirty years. Prior to purchasing a company, Ted worked for Citibank’s consumer business in New York, Sydney, Australia and Los Angeles. He has served on the boards of several private companies and charitable organizations. Ted received a BSME from Villanova University and an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.

Jim Southern

Jim Southern is the senior partner and Chief Investment Officer of Pacific Lake Partners, a $35 million private equity fund focused on small cap buyouts exclusively through the search fund model. Mr. Southern also manages a personal portfolio of more than 45 investments in small to medium sized private companies sourced exclusively through the search fund model.

Previously, Mr. Southern was himself a beneficiary of search fund investors early in his career, resulting in the acquisition of Uniform Printing, a $43 million printer of specialty insurance documents. Investor cash on cash returns during his tenure exceeded 30x the acquisition capital. Mr. Southern holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Martin Steber

Co-founding Managing Director of Relay Investments and is based in the Montreal office. In early 1993, Martin, along with Gunnar Bjorklund, Sandro Mina and Nick Babchuk, co-founded Sverica International. During his early tenure, Mr. Steber was CEO of two pre-fund investments in Birmingham, Alabama, Automatic Detection Systems Inc, an electronic security company, and AccuDocs LLC, a billing services company. Both of these entities were eventually sold to larger industry leaders. Later, Mr. Steber was actively involved in raising Sverica’s first and second private equity funds. Mr. Steber retired from Sverica in late 2007 to relocate to Europe. He continues to serve on the board of Ackerman Security Systems, as well as OASIS. Mr. Steber is a Limited Partner in or co-invests with each of Sverica’s funds and serves on the board of directors of several other privately held companies including several companies acquired by search funds.

Mr. Steber completed his BS in Computer Engineering from Imperial College at the University of London and his MBA degree at the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University.

Kent Weaver

Mr. Weaver is currently Chairman and CEO of Progressive Home Care, a Northern California-based health care company. Previously, Mr. Weaver held executive positions in marketing and product management for a VC-backed marketing automation startup, as a regional CFO and business analyst in Pepsico's Pizza Hut Division, and as a management consultant at Ernst & Young. He received his MBA from the Fully Employed Program at the University of California, Los Angeles and BS in finance from the University of Southern California. He is currently a board member at VRI, Discovery Outsourcing, Data Fusion Technologies, Onesource Water, Integra Partners and Healthwyse.
